Furthering the Dream: 2008 EMUBA Book Scholarship
By: Karinda L. Washington, Scholarship Committee Chair

Have you ever taken the time to think about the hard work, dedication, focus, and most importantly finances that it took for
you to obtain your college degree?  Maybe it was the care package that a family member sent, or the trip to the front desk for a
roll of bathroom tissue or the hunger pains you felt when you realized the last package of Ramen Noodles were eaten by your
roommate. With the support of the EMUBA Book Scholarship, our 2008 recipients can say we were there to help.

It’s with that sentiment that the Scholarship Committee of the EMUBA selected 10 deserving EMU undergraduate students
to receive our annual book scholarship award.  Assuring that the time, energy and financial resources that are being utilized for
their goal of obtaining a college education shall not go in vain. These young men and women have been active on the EMU
campus and in their local communities, while maintaining great grade point averages.
Each time you purchase a ticket to an EMUBA event, or pay your membership dues, you’re furthering the dream of the next
generation to have access to opportunities via education that may have not been obtained otherwise.  You’re encouraging us as
an organization that our work is meaningful each time we see you at a tailgate or our annual picnic.
